Yes I enjoyed this book very much with its premise of Bach as very much a
twentieth century rediscovery and primarily through the idiom of recording.

by paul elie, an excellent new book. a lot on gould, although mostly
familiar ( but a little not so, ) . the anecdotes on tureck, einstein,
stokowsky, casals, streisand, ( and bach ) are fascinating. at least a good
library read, maybe a purchase. but try it first.
