[f_minor] GG gets another Grammy

Pat,

My piano teacher, Yehuda Guttman, was working at Juilliard when GG was
making his first recordings.  At that time, GG was appreciated by many, but
not by the players in the ruling style of the day.  Most of them were in
the "Romantic Style", and their model was Horowitz.  GG was considered an
oddity, and even his Bach was thought of as "bizarre".  I was stunned when
I learned this.  I remember reading a quote from Richter after GG's trip to
Russia and his immediate adoration by the public.  "I could play like that
if I wanted to practice all the time," Richter said.

I was quite young when his recordings were first issued.  My original
teacher who loved Bach more than any other composer, told me about
him and I bought everything that showed up in our local record store.
 Fortunately for me, I had a nice bank account made of baby-sitting money,
so I started my record/tape/CD collection very early.
