I clicked on the link to the Guardian and parts 1 through 8 of the lecture series are all there.

Marco,
I had thought of that but I didn't give it a try. It makes sense. Thanks for the advice.
The Guardian deserves enormous credit for offering these lectures.
I think The Guardian also still offers a lot of goodies from the Hay Festival of Literature but in
honour of Nuncle allow me to say: be an active sleuth and find the links yourselves.

In fact, it is impossible to listen to the first sonatas instreaming, but I've had no problem in downloading them from theGuardian site.
Good luck!
Marco
Once again: If anyone has the now missingfirst three parts to this lecture series will you please help out?
The Guardian site begins at Part Four: Towards the Pastoral. Why? Idon't know.

Just ashort word.....last night as I was drifting off to sleep, I put on hislecture on Beethoven's "Waldstein". It is not to bemissed. He brings a Gouldian depth to his insights and coupledwith a fabulous technique, sensitivities and respect for the ultimate"urtext" meanings including paying close attention toBeethoven's own hand written notes for how the piece is to be played,I found that lecture to be one of the finest I've ever heard. I hopeto make my way through the rest of his fascinating lectures....aworthwhile adventure. GG would be pleased at all thatinsight.
Cheers,
FredHoupt
